WIM STAS - soprano cornet
In 1986 Wim Stas became First Laureate of the Soloist Competition of the Flemish Brass Band Federation in the category -16 years.
He studied at the conservatories of Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp with Guido Segers, Alain Roelant and the late Theo Mertens. As a result he obtained is master's and aggregate's degree.
In 1996 Wim Stas was First Laureate of the International Contest Darlier for Trumpet.
Wim Stas is conductor of Brass Band Alsemberg and Fanfare band 'De Vrijheidsvrienden' from Huizingen. He teaches at the Orfeus Academy in Alsemberg and is freelance trumpet player.
Next to this he is a member of the Flanders Trumpet Quartet.
Wim Stas has been playing with Brass Band Buizingen for over twenty years.
