TIM DE MAESENEER - Tenor horn
Tim was born on 13 June 1988 in Vilvoorde.
He received his first lessons in Brass Band Hombeek at the age of six, on the tenor horn.
In 2001 Tim became national champion of the soloist competition of the Flemish Brass Band Federation.
In 2002, at age fourteen, he was asked by Benny Wiame to join Brass Band Midden Brabant.
Three months later he was promoted to first tenor horn; a year and a half later to solo tenor horn.
After two years with Brass Band Midden Brabant, he joined Brass Band Buizingen. Since 2006 he has been solo tenor horn.
Tim received was trained by a.o. Michel Leveugle, Ben Vanlombeeck, Alain Van de Velde, Andre Vandriessche, Leo Wouters, Luc Vertommen and Frans Violet.
He currently studies at the Ghent Conservatory under the expert guidance of Mr. Benny Wiame.
In 2005 and 2007 Tim was asked by Bournemouth Concert Brass to help them out at the West of England Regional Championships. They won in 2005.
In 2006 Tim played the European Brass Band Championship with Brass Band Willebroek, they gained victory that year.
In 2007 Tim won First Prize in the brass section of the Dexia Axion Classics (formerly known as the Pro Civitate contest). On 1 March 2008 Tim was invited to play as a soloist with the Flemish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Etienne Siebens. Tim performed the Second Horn concerto by Richard Strauss.
Since 2007, Tim has been part of the 'Five In Brass', a brass quintet including Senne La Mela, Thomas Mellaerts, Glenn Van Looy and Jan De Maeseneer.
Since 2008, Tim has teamed up with BBQ or the Brass Band Buizingen Quartet.
