On Saturday 11 May, Brass Band Buizingen won first prize at the Union Grand-Duc Adolphe contest at the Philharmonie (Luxemburg-city).

On 3 and 4 May the Norwegian Band Federation organised the 2013 European Brass Band Championship in Oslo, Norway. The Konserthus was the selected playground. Brass Band Buizingen obtained 189/200 for the set work on Friday and 195/200 (!) on Saturday, enough for a fourth place overall. A strong result amongst an equally strong field of contenders.

Brass Band Buizingen is very pleased to announce that a new double disc of Nigel Clarke's latest brass band music will be released next weekend by Brass Band Buizingen under the baton of Luc Vertommen. Works to be performed on the two discs are: Swift Severn’s Flood, The City in the Sea (Euphonium: Glenn Van Looy), Earthrise, When Worlds Collide, Mysteries of the Horizon (Cornet: Harmen Vanhoorne) and Tilbury Point. Also there is specially commissioned poetry by Martin Westlake read by Frank Renton.

Brass Band Buizingen will defend Belgium's honour at the European Brass Band Championships in Oslo on 3 and 4 May 2013. To be able to thoroughly prepare for this, they'll organise a try out concert together with the Dutch champions, Brass Band Schoonhoven. The concert will take place Saturday 27 April (19:00) at the Cultural Centre Wauterbos (Sint Genesius Rode).

Sunday 25 November saw Brass Band Buizingen win the national title in the well filled Lemmensinstitute and will have the honour of representing the country at the European Brass Band Championships to be held next year in Oslo (Norway) on May 3rd and 4th.

Harmen Vanhoorne began recording his first solo CD, titled "Fortune's Fool" last weekend. The title track, written by Stan Nieuwenhuis, was performed by Harmen in his winning performances at the British Open Solo Championship and the Ern Keller Memorial Trophy. This new release is special: 95% of the music is newly composed by talented composers.

During the Whit weekend Brass Band Buizingen conducted by Luc Vertommen claimed second place at the 2012 All England Masters International Brass Band Championships. The contest was won by Tredegar Town Band.

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April saw the Flanders Open Brass Band Championship take place in the Town theatre of Machelen (BE). Brass Band Buizing, under the direction of Luc Vertommen, claimed second place in the top section of the contest where they played an own-choice selection of 'Flashlight' (Jan Van der Roost), 'Stars of the Morning' (Kenneth Downie) and a new composition from the band’s composer in residence Nigel Clarke 'When Worlds Collide'.
